Review: Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25

Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 by Richard Paul Evans

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

We read Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 for Book Club this month. I found it to be a good book for my youth, no language or bad scenes. It is a bit intense and violent, but not graphically so, far less than The Hunger Games Trilogy. As far as being a classic, I'm not sure I would put it on that list. I can't see a reason for reading it over and over again. It is a good story and I look forward to reading the next book.

One thing I found annoying was all the high school drama over popularity. When I was in high school, I liked those kinds of stories. As an adult, I find them tedious and over rated.

The rest of the story is interesting once we got past the high school drama. The true story begins about half way through the book with the main characters discovering who they really are and the horrible circumstances they are put through does show true character on the part of people making the right decisions for the right reasons. That depiction of character is the main reason I like this book and would recommend it to others. It has a good lesson for people of all ages to learn.
